About Maths Success

“If you teach a man anything, he will never learn”
George Bernard Shaw

“Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change. Learning is more than absorbing facts, it is acquiring understanding.”
William Arthur Ward

George Bernard Shaw was an Irish playwright and a co-founder of the London School of Economics. He wrote more than 60 plays and was an author of many memorable quotations. But the above quotation is at the core of our teaching. Yes, one can only learn by doing, by making mistakes and having those mistakes corrected. Spoon feeding is not the answer. As we say to our students – when you are writing the exam we will not be there with you, so we have to teach you how to stand on your own two feet, that’s our job as teachers.
